This document outlines the terms under which Avey Lane Cattery provides boarding services. By submitting a booking form, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these terms in full.
Section 1: Health, Veterinary Treatment & Emergency Care
1.1 In the event of suspected injury or illness, Avey Lane Cattery may contact a veterinary surgeon. The cat may be examined, and diagnostic procedures (such as blood tests or x-rays) may be performed. An appropriate course of treatment will be pursued on the vet’s recommendation.
1.2 Where possible, treatment will be arranged with the cat’s regular veterinary practice if it is local. Where this is not feasible, care will be provided by Avey Lane Cattery’s nominated veterinary provider, VETCall, Chingford.
1.3 Avey Lane Cattery is authorised to administer any medication or treatment prescribed by a vet. All costs arising from veterinary consultations, tests, treatments, or medications shall be the responsibility of the owner.
1.4 Reasonable efforts will be made to contact the owner or their designated emergency contact prior to any treatment. Updates will be provided throughout where practical.
1.5 In the event that humane euthanasia is recommended by a qualified veterinary professional on welfare grounds, Avey Lane Cattery is authorised to consent to this on the owner’s behalf if all reasonable attempts to make contact have failed.
1.6 If a cat is found to have fleas or worms while boarding, Avey Lane Cattery will arrange for appropriate treatment by a vet. Any associated costs will be charged to the owner.
Section 2: General Boarding Requirements
2.1 All cats must have a valid and current Inoculation Certificate showing vaccination against:
– Feline Panleukopenia
– Feline Calicivirus
– Feline Herpesvirus
– Feline Leukemia (where applicable)
2.2 The vaccination certificate must be presented on arrival. Boarding cannot proceed without it due to licensing obligations.
2.3 It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure that all vaccinations are current prior to the boarding date.
2.4 All cats must be free from contagious disease on arrival. Avey Lane Cattery reserves the right to refuse admission if the cat shows signs of illness.
Section 3: Booking, Payment & Cancellation
3.1 All bookings must be confirmed via phone or email.
3.2 A non-refundable deposit may be required to secure the booking. This will be deducted from the final balance.
3.3 Boarding fees are charged per calendar day, regardless of arrival or departure time.
3.4 The full balance is payable at the time of drop-off unless a deposit has already been made.
3.5 Cancellations must be made at least 14 days prior to the booked date to avoid being charged in full.
3.6 Cancellations made within 14 days of the scheduled arrival date will incur the full booking charge.
Section 4: Cat Accommodation & Care
4.1 If multiple cats from the same household are booked to share a family unit, Avey Lane Cattery reserves the right to separate them into individual units if deemed necessary for their safety or wellbeing. Additional charges may apply for separate accommodation.
4.2 Toys may be placed in cat units for enrichment and stimulation during the stay.
4.3 Owners are welcome to provide personal items such as bedding, toys, or food. However, Avey Lane Cattery accepts no liability for loss or damage to any such belongings.
Section 5: Collection & Return
5.1 Cats must be collected on the agreed date during opening hours. If there is any change to the collection date, the owner must inform Avey Lane Cattery as soon as possible.
5.2 Additional charges may apply for extended stays beyond the original booking.
Section 6: Liability
6.1 Avey Lane Cattery will exercise all reasonable care in the handling and supervision of cats. However, the cattery accepts no liability for loss, illness, injury, or death, unless caused by its proven negligence.
6.2 In emergencies where the owner or emergency contact cannot be reached, Avey Lane Cattery is authorised to make decisions relating to the care of the cat, including the approval of veterinary treatment or euthanasia if deemed necessary by a vet.
Section 7: Media & Promotion
7.1 Avey Lane Cattery may take photographs of cats during their stay. These images may be used for promotional materials, including social media and marketing publications.
Section 8: Amendments
8.1 Avey Lane Cattery reserves the right to update, vary, or amend these Terms and Conditions at any time.
8.2 These Terms and Conditions are subject to change without prior notice. It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure they have read and understood the most current version, which will be made available upon request or published at the cattery premises.
